early parenting books?

I have all your normal pregnancy books...What to Expect When Your Expecting, Your Pregnancy Week to Week, Pregnancy Diet Guides, and I even bought Marcus a father’s guide to read. I want to get some more books to help prepare us for this life changing thing that is going to happen in October! Anyone have any good books they could suggest? I am looking for more of an early parenting guide. One that deals with sleeping techniques, breastfeeding, introducing the baby to a dog (this will be quite interesting) or just and over all good informational book. I know nothing I read can truly prepare me for this amazing life I will be caring for but I at least would like to read up and know that I did as much as I could! So please help and give me some suggestions!

*More question to come in the next 7 months!!!

I have this book I got from the March of Dimes that deals with caring for infants through 5 years old. I am still reading through it, but by the time Ayden is 6 - 8 months old I could just give it to you. I don't plan to have any more babies so you could just have it....or do you just need/want it now?

I read a lot of books while I was pregnant. Dr. Spock's book is good, as long as you don't try to 100% follow everything in there. Of course no matter how much reading you do, you can't really be prepared for a new baby. Most everything came naturally for us, the caring for the baby, even breastfeeding. The HARDEST thing for me was going back to work. Remembering to bring my pump and all the stuff was a pain, getting baby ready, babysitter, and of course leaving him. There is a book I read about but didn't read, called "Nursing Mother, Working Mother." It really sounds like it would have been helpful to me.

One of my biggest mistakes was taking some of the advice from the books and from family/friends and not doing what felt natural. But I still enjoyed reading the books.

Baby Wise is a really great book about feeding, sleeping, etc. Laurie has my copy right now, but I will give it to you when I get it back. I would also strongly suggest taking a breast feeding class from the hospital. It taught me a lot and made me more confident if that's what you decide you want to do. Love the picture! What a precious baby Kyler!

"The Baby Book" by Dr. Sears. It's a tremendous help, even to this day and my Miracle is almost 5 months old! Another good book is "The Vaccine Book" by Dr. Sears.

Do not buy or read Baby Wise. It is a horrible book despite that everyone is on this trend. 12 babies have died as a result of malnutrition so I heard from my Lactation consultant.

Bookes I recommend.
The Vaccine Book by Dr Sears
The Happiest Baby on the Block by Karp
I would get a breastfeeding Book also
